Experts say this week the price oil hit a new record of $75.40 a barrel.
Jim Smith with Florida's Petroleum Marketers Association says motorists should expect to see prices rise by six or seven cents.
Smith says motorists should practice conserving gasoline now, especially as we move further into hurricane season.
"Hopefully, we are better prepared as far as inventories are concerned, on the part of the major oil companies. Sure, we are going to have some disruption and some prices will go up. If we don't do what we do best, which is panic buy, we should be alright," said Smith, who says right now the average price for a gallon of unleaded gas in our area is about $2.84 a gallon.
