Florida Department of Law Enforcement officials, teamed with Madison County deputies, are busy processing the scene in room 320 where a housekeeper discovered the body of a guest at a local motel off I-10 in Madison County.
Around 10:30 Thursday morning a housekeeper was doing a routine cleaning when she walked into room 320 and made the gruesome discovery.
Gwendolyn Weatherspoon said, "When I went in and knocked on the door it was no answer, so when I walked to tell the lady they had checked out, that's when I discovered the body on the floor.”
Weatherspoon says she ran out of the room and alerted authorities. News of the suspicious death has housekeepers on edge.
Arlene Atwood added, "Nervous, very nervous. Just to think I can find a body one day."
Authorities are combing every inch of the facility trying to find clues as to what happened in room 320.
Right now they're tight-lipped about the investigation.
Sheriff Pete Bucher said, "We are currently working the scene as a homicide. We're trying to make some determination; it's just going to take a while."
Deputies say the victim is not from the area and will not release his name until next of kin has been notified. Investigators are asking the public for help. If you have any information about this case, please call the Madison County Sheriff's Office at 850-973-4151.
