The new buses will hit the roads soon, but Star Metro is giving us a sneak peak. The new buses are smaller than the average sized bus, but what they lack in size they are making up for in technology.
The engines are more efficient, there are larger A/C units; the buses also feature wireless maintenance diagnostics. Four of the five buses will be exclusive to the Florida State University route because FSU pitched in for the costs.
Star Metro says it is in talks with FAMU for a similar deal. Star Metro buses will soon feature a "GPSed" fare box.
Not only will riders be able to get real time information on bus location via Internet, cell phone or PDA, they'll also be able to use a Smart Card, adding fares via credit card if they prefer.
