Members of Alliance Francaise of Tallahassee gathered Saturday at Tom Brown Park to celebrate France's independence from monarchy rule. They enjoyed French music, grilled out and sampled some French foods.
They say this event is about more than just recognizing the French independence day.
"The French community is really big in Tallahassee, and since we are now the Alliance Francaise of Tallahassee, we wanted to gather all the French people and people interested in French culture to celebrate this day together with a picnic here," explains Philippe Masson, an officer of Alliance Francaise of Tallahassee.
Some of the group also played the game of Petanque, which is a traditional French outdoor game using metallic balls.
