Voter Turnout Lower Than Expected In Thomas County
Thousands of voters hit the polls in Thomas County on Tuesday but election officials say the turnout wasn't nearly as large as expected.

Because early and advanced voting attracted around 40% of Thomas County's registered voters, Election Superintendent Vickie Burnette predicted an 85% total turnout by the end of the day.
But in the end only 73% of registered voters turned up to vote.
"A lot of people took advantage of that because they did not want to wait in lines. The ironic thing is they did wait in lines to vote early but they would not be waiting in lines if they voted today," said Vickie Burnette.
Burnette says they did run into some minor problems this morning as some of the express polling machines were unseeded after they were moved.
But Burnette says the machines were immediately fixed and operated properly the rest of the day.
