Stephanie Eldridge is a volunteer at the shelter who is trying to raise awareness through art.
Eldridge is painting a mural of adopted animals to spruce up the adoption wing. She says until she became a volunteer, she didn't realize how many animals were in need of a good home.
Stephanie said, "Tallahassee is very fortunate to have such a great shelter, and there's so many animals in here that need homes, so I think this is the place you definitely want to come to get your pets."
The shelter is also growing. A spay and neuter suite is currently under construction, enabling the shelter to spay and neuter all animals before they are adopted. The shelter veterinarian says this will help with the Big Bend's overpopulation problem.
