FSU Faculty Receive Mixed News Over Pay Raises

FSU's Board of Trustees have closed the books on faculty pay raises for the 05-06 fiscal year.

They voted to not give faculty members the 1.5 percent increase in merit as requested from the faculty union.

"Given the policy of Florida State University to treat all employees equally, the cost of that would have approached $5 million, and it is just not a reasonable action in today's climate," said FSU Provost Larry Abele.

On the flipside, FSU's trustees and the United Faculty of Florida have agreed on a salary increase package for 06-07.

In addition to the three percent across-the-board increase from the Legislature, the agreement includes a 1.1 percent increase in merit and a .5 percent increase for special achievements.
