Graduate students from the Florida A&M/FSU College of Engineering built a concept car out of lightweight eco-friendly materials.

The three wheeled coupe runs on batteries and can crank up to 30 miles per hour.

The car weighs only 800 pounds, and the strong carbon frame has been proven to absorb the force of a crash much better than a regular car.

Engineering Associate Professor Okenwa Okoli says, "The idea is to look at energy efficient motor vehicles for the future. We're looking at reducing the weight, increasing the potential for mass transit at a very low cost."

Graduate Student Alvin Lim says, "Once you take this thing out on the road, it just feels nice, it drives better than I expected."

The car will be driven by FSU President TK Wetherell in this Friday's Homecoming Parade.

The Engineering School also has plans to build a small airplane out of the same materials.

Looks SUPER, and hope that all the time and effort is on the right track. Need more of these type of energetic student to break the old type of cars we have on todays road and specially, the cost of fuel. Keep up the good job.
