Capital Health Plan has donated more than half a million dollars to what they're calling the "Championship Program." It promotes fitness and a healthy lifestyle in Leon County schools.
Organizers hope it'll foster a lifelong appreciation for fitness. Ten schools will participate in the program this fall.
Principal Scotty Crowe said, "This is a wonderful opportunity for our schools, for our students to bring this type of program to our kids and our community, and it's something we certainly need. We see a need, and it's going to provide those services for our kids."
Titus Sports Academy will provide training and collect data on all the participants.
Organizers hope to expand it to 20 schools and then, long-term, bring the championship program to surrounding counties as well.
