You can still fit in a fun event like "Come Together Day" held at Griffin Middle School Saturday afternoon.
The rain didn't keep thousands of kids and their parents away from the event where 2,500 back packs filled with school supplies are given to low-income kids.
"Some kids go to school and might not have nothing, and it's unfortunate, so like I said, this is a good idea that they have been doing for a couple of years that I know of, you know," said mother and "Come Together Day" participant Katherine Robinson.
New Mount Zion A.M.E. Church sponsors "Come Together Day" each year before school begins and invites children from local housing developments.
