School Bus Assault Training

The Leon County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team is training to save your children. The team surrounded a Leon County school bus, armed and ready. It was part of one of three school bus assault training sessions the team will undergo this year.

A bus hostage situation has never happened in Leon County, but it wasn't long ago a gunman in south Florida took a school bus hostage. SWAT members say it's training for something they hope never happens.

CAPT Gene Revell, SWAT Commander, said, "The world has changed since 9/11. There are real threats out there, and people in the world that want to hurt us and our children are most susceptible to that threat."

The challenge in the exercise was getting the bus stopped and diverting the suspect. SWAT members say they're ready.
