Hundreds of people braved the stormy weather this Friday night to take part in the first ever Inside Out Youthfest in Thomasville.

Volunteers set up for the event despite the rain, that featured a number of Christian bands from all over the state of Georgia.

The family friendly event was open to the public and featured lots of games, music and free food donated by local restaurants and volunteers.

"We really believe this is the start of something. We're planning on having one in the spring. We're not sure of the date yet. It's probably going to be middle spring and we hope to have one every year after that," said Youthfest coordinator Bryan Watt.

The Atlanta-fest christian concert brings in thousands of people each year, but Watt says everyone can't make the trip up north. That's why event planners decided to hold a christian concert in Southwest Georgia.

Event goers also did their part to help the community at large by bringing canned goods to donate to the local food bank and Salvation Army.
