School of Business Dean, Sybil Mobley, began her career at FAMU as a typist when she was 19. Mobley moved from various positions within the university, eventually becoming an accounting teacher.
About 30 years ago she was named dean of the business school. At one point, Mobley was even a top candidate for president of the university, but now after 58 years at FAMU, she is calling it quits. However, she leaves behind a legacy filled with success.
FAMU's SBI continuously ranks among one the top programs nationwide. Businesses lining this board compete for the school's attention, and many will tell you Mobley made it all possible.
Mobley says she will now get to spend more time with her 14 grandchildren and also do some writing. Several events are scheduled this weekend to honor her June 30 retirement.
