Special Performance Troupe

A Tallahassee performance troupe is hoping to change the way you see people with disabilities. The Pyramid Players will take the stage Friday night, some with downs syndrome, cerebal palsy, spina bifida, but when the lights come up, they are very much performers who want to wow the crowd.

Dorothy and friends are taking that familiar trip to Oz, but this is a performance with more heart than the tin man could have ever imagined.

The Wiz, the Scarecrow and the rest of the Pyramid Players all have developmental delays or physical disabilities, but apparently not stage fright.

"I've been practicing even at home. I can hear it in my head all night long because I want it to be perfect," says DeArtist Stevens, The Spokesman of Oz.

For these performers, taking the stage, going to Oz and back, really is proof that sometimes the dreams you dare to dream really do come true.

The show To Oz and Back is Friday night at 7:00 p.m. out at TCC's Turner Auditorium.
