Dozens to Retire From FAMU

Dr. Margaret Lewis began teaching at Florida State University in 1958. As Dean of the Nursing School, she helped establish a masters program.

Dean Lewis is one of 80 faculty and staff members departing FAMU on June 30. Many are familiar faces, such as School of Business Dean, Sybil Mobley, and black archives founder, Dr. James Eton.

Gainous says it breaks his heart to lose the culture, history and institutional knowledge.

Longtime FAMU track coach, Bobby Lang, who worked under Jake Gaither, is also calling it quits. He summed up his thoughts on the number of retirees as only a track coach could.
