The victims are a 26 year old male and a 48 year old female. The two victims are related family members.

The victim was outside with his uncle installing a television antenna. The victims were using a hammer to complete the installation and noise from the hammering bothered the neighbor, later identified as 27 year old Casey Griffith.

Griffith confronted the victims about the noise. He asked the neighbors why they were hammering at five on the morning. The victims explained to him that they would complete the project later and went inside to avoid any confrontation.

While inside, the Griffith walked to the victim’s yard and scattered the tools contained in the victim’s tool bag throughout the yard. He then went to the front door of victim’s home and began yelling.

The victim told the suspect to go away and not to come into his apartment because his aunt had a gun. The suspect left, but returned a short time later with a shotgun. He reportedly “pumped” the action of the shotgun and began tuning the doorknob of victim’s front door.

The victim’s aunt called 911 and Officer Carla Whitley arrived on scene and arrested the suspect before further violence occurred. Griffith stated he did not remember retrieving the shotgun and continued to believe it was Friday. The suspect claims he was drunk during the incident.

Griffith has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
