Wakulla County sheriff's detectives continue their investigation, and word spreads through town; a fatal fire has rocked a community.
It's an Independence Day nightmare; a deadly blaze ripped through this home at 127 Whitlock Way trapping a two-year-old boy inside while his family screamed for help.
Detective Mike Kemp of the Wakulla County Sheriff's office said,” The father was yelling his son was trapped inside."
Deputies were unable to find the child where the father said he was located. Shortly after- firefighters arrived they rescued the boy but it was too late. The two-year-old was already dead.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, authorities say it looks to be accidental. Neighbors say there are two possibilities; fireworks or an old propane gas grill.
