Church Arson Fire

A Fourth of July fire that erupted at a Tallahassee church has now been ruled an arson, and investigators hope you can help them find out who did it. Fire investigators say the Fourth of July church fire is still under investigation, but they say they have enough evidence to determine it was arson. Monday, the leaders of the church and the members are waiting and praying for answers.

While many were celebrating the Fourth of July holiday, two church congregations, that shared this sanctuary, were mourning their loss.

Firefighters responded to the church at the corner of Dantzler and Wallis Streets around 3 p.m. in the afternoon. Firefighters say when they got there the flames were coming out of the windows, and they could tell the damage was extensive.

The reverend says whoever broke in came in through the kitchen window by kicking out the air conditioning unit, and that's where investigators say the fire.

Reverend Walker says this is the third time this year that the church has been broken in to, but the previous two times, the end result was not as devastating.

There is a reward being offered in this investigation, as much as $2500. If you have any information please call 891-FIRE.

Two congregations share the church building, the New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and the Antioch Church of Christ. Reverend Walker says they have fire insurance, but at this point they are waiting to see if the building will be condemned before they make any official decisions.
