The juice was certainly flowing Friday afternoon as hundreds gathered to stomp grapes at FAMU's annual Grape Harvest Festival.

Every year residents put their best foot forward during the grape stomping competition.

This is just one of the many events of the Harvest Festival where folks learn about the small fruit industry, particularly the Muscodine grape.

"What I really like is knowing all of the different varieties and how good they are. They are really sweet and it is just real interesting," said Tallahassee resident Debbie Kistler.

FAMU's viticulture center was established back in 1978 as a two and a half acre research center. Now the center has close to 40 acres of vineyard.

Researchers at the center say tons of grapes are harvested here each year. In addition, the center is credited with starting at least seven of Florida's 15 wineries.
