A policy that has helped the University of Florida achieve the highest four-year graduation rate in the state will soon be coming to Florida State University.
FSU officials say they'll implement the program to keep students from making a career out of college.
In 1998, more than half of University of Florida freshmen graduated in four years. The highest rate in the state is attributed UF’s universal tracking policy where a student who gets off track can be forced to change their major or even expelled.
Tallahassee FSU provost, Larry Abele, says the university will adopt the policy this fall.
Since implementing the program in 1995, UF officials say more students are staying focused and more space has been freed up for hundreds of new students, but the policy has received criticism.
State officials are encouraging other universities to implement programs similar to the University of Florida's.
