A Department of Children and Families employee, who worked at Chattahoochee for more than 30 years, has died on the job.
DCF authorities say, Thursday night, 52-year-old James Smith died of an apparent heart attack, soon after he tried to help a co-worker who'd been attacked by a resident there.
A DCF spokesman says Smith collapsed shortly after the incident and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
DCF says an initial investigation shows all procedures were followed.
