A criminal who had been hiding out from police is now behind bars, but his arrest takes on a bizarre twist
This is 39-year-old Antonio Tyes, who had been living in Hahira, GA.
He walked up to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office earlier this week to find out what was on his criminal record was. A thorough check discovered the man was wanted on a murder charge in New York state. He was quickly arrested.
Authorities say a criminal's past can easily catch up with them anywhere.
"The system is not fool proof, but its a lot better than it was 10 years ago, and so nationwide you're looking at the crimes are interlinked, wherever you're at, someone's going to run across you," says Ashley Paulk, Lowndes County Sheriff.
Tyes will be held at the Lowndes County Jail until he can be extradited to Buffalo, where he will face the murder charge.
