The victim was 67-year-old Jack Dasinger, of Perdido Key. He was a bagpipe player at a popular Irish pub.
His lightweight plane crashed about two blocks from Coastal Airport in the unincorporated community of Beulah northwest of Pensacola.
A witness says that the ultralight had been making touch-and-go approaches at the airport when its engine began sputtering.
The plane stalled and came straight down through the power lines.
A wing clipped a 115-thousand-volt line.
Fire rescue says Dasinger likely died on impact.
