Downtown Improvement Funding in Jeopardy

During the last few years, the city of Thomasville has used $1 million to revamp its downtown streets, and it was hoping it would receive another million to continue the restoration. But, Thomasville’s Main Street office says it may have to put off those plans if Congress votes to cut funding through the transportation enhancement act or tea.

Tea dollars have been used to widen sidewalks, purchase benches and landscaping, and install decorative lamp posts, all designs meant to cater to the pedestrian.

Celaya is urging all community members to call their congressperson and ask them to save tea funding.
