Tallahassee Community College is Training Nurses

At Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, the national shortage of nurses is still being felt, yet help is nearby. Ann Evans, vice president of nursing at TMH, is referring to a new program at Tallahassee Community College.

A $140,000 grant is allowing TCC to implement an evening and weekend registered nurses curriculum.

Twenty students who are already on TCC's waiting list and are financially in need will be fully funded for the program, but what's disturbing for college and health officials is the fact that there is a waiting list for an area of such need.

TMH will provide clinical training at the hospital. Qualified nurses will also work as faculty at TCC to allow more students to take the nursing program.
