The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle crash in Suwannee County which claimed the life of a four month old infant earlier today.
Vehicle 1 (V-1) was stopped on the northbound shoulder of westbound U.S. 27. Vehicle 2 (V-2) was traveling eastbound on U.S. 27. The driver of V-1 was attempting to make a u-turn and travel eastbound on U.S. 27. V-1 traveled into the direct path of V-2. V-2 struck V-1's right rear with V-2's front. V-1 then traveled onto the south shoulder, striking a traffic sign and fence. V-2 came to final rest partially obstructing the eastbound lane.
The four month old passenger was not properly restrained in V-2 at the time of this crash. The baby was transported to the Lake City Medical Center where he later expired due to his injuries.
