Bush Asks Brother George W. for Federal Disaster Relief

Bush says several counties are still struggling to recover from losses in the flooding.

The federal disaster relief money would cover damage to roads, bridges, buildings and utilities.

The aid would go to Levy, Citrus, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Hardee and DeSoto counties.

Between 10 and 20 inches of rain fell during a 10-day period in those counties. Rivers surged above flood stages and left roads under water.

Flood damage in the counties exceeded the $17 million federal threshold, making the state eligible to request assistance.
