Partnership Between TCC and Local Middle School

A new partnership may ease the minds of some concerned parents in Tallahassee. Back in May, Steele Collins Charter Middle School was the sight of a protest organized by parents, but starting this fall, the school will be getting some needed assistance from Tallahassee Community College.

Several students spent the last day of school picketing beside their moms outside of Steele Collins Charter Middle School. Their list of complaints ranged from academic to facility shortfalls, but now parents have new hope.

This fall, Tallahassee Community College will lend a helping hand. Parent Lucile Williams says some outside help is needed.

TCC will provide no monetary support, but they are looking into services such as FCAT prep courses, staff development, tutoring and volunteer help.

New principal Mary Henry believes the partnership may appease some disgruntled parents. Down the line, TCC officials say they hope to develop similar partnerships in other schools.
