State Has 750 Complaints About Smoking Ban Violations

State officials say they've taken 750 complaints about smoking violations since the law went into effect July 1.

Most of those complaints, nearly 575, involve violations at restaurants.

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation says it's sending out law enforcement agents to investigate every complaint.

The American Lung Association says it has reports of some businesses trying to skirt the law, but a state spokesman believes most businesses are trying to cooperate.

Jack Tuter is with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

He thinks some business owners are just ignorant as to what the law is.

So far, no smokers or businesses have been ticketed or fined.
