NFCC Hosts Super Saturday
Area high school juniors and seniors have been invited to tour North Florida Community College, enter for a chance to win scholarships and learn what going to school close to home is all about.

Are you a high school junior, senior or beyond looking for the perfect place to continue your secondary education or begin training for a new career? Are you interested in the college’s academic programs or cultural offerings? Interested in a chance to win NFCC scholarships? Then stop by NFCC March 7.

North Florida Community College is hosting a campus-wide Super Saturday event March 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on its main campus in Madison, Fla. NFCC will have staff on hand ready to help prospective students apply for admissions and financial aid. There will also be chances to win book and tuition scholarships. Visitors will enjoy live music and great giveaways from area radio station Hot 102.7.

Super Saturday is open to high school juniors, high school seniors and the community; basically to anyone interested in attending NFCC or finding out more information about the college and its many programs. NFCC Enrollment Services’ staff will be available to help individuals apply for admissions. Financial aid experts will be on hand to assist future students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). As an incentive, eligible high school seniors who fill out an admissions application March 7 at NFCC will receive a $10 discounted application fee.

NFCC’s Super Saturday event is open to the public. Visitors will enjoy campus tours and presentations showcasing NFCC’s many popular programs. A few demonstrations planned include nursing demonstrations with state-of-the-art simulators, a living history presentation entitled “A Window into the War” given by NFCC history instructor Jay Welch, live music performances by the NFCC Music Department, rocket launches by the NFCC Science Department, demonstrations by the NFCC Art Department and much more.

The Public Safety Academy will provide up-to-date information about NFCC’s law enforcement and corrections programs and is planning demonstrations of its shooting simulator, driving range, defensive tactics and more. NFCC’s drafting program will engage visitors with real drafting problems as well as allow visitors to complete and keep a beginning level drawing using the professional AutoCAD drafting software.

In addition enjoy a free lunch, stop by NFCC’s Library for a “Dance, Dance Revolution” on Nintendo Wii from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. or check out the Sentinel Rocketeers rocket launches at the top of each hour at the NFCC tennis court. March 7 is the day to find out all that NFCC has to offer.
