Bread Recall
Flowers Foods has issued a voluntary recall for bread products sold in Louisiana and several other states.
The bakery products, sold under the Flowers, Broad Street Bakery, Cobblestone Mill, Country Farm and Winn Dixie names, may contain small pieces of metal mesh screen.
Company officials say the affected products were sold in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
Some may have also been sold in parts of Kentucky, Texas, New Mexico, South Carolina, eastern Oklahoma, extreme southeastern Kansas, southern Missouri and southern Ohio.
Grocers have been advised to withdraw the affected products from their shelves.
Consumers are urged to return the products to the place of purchase for product replacement or refunds.
To find out specifically what products are included in the recall, consumers can call 1-800-660-3590. Callers must enter the code 1925 and the extension 294 when prompted.
Flowers Foods' voluntary recall affects 19 types of bread sold by the Thomasville, Georgia-based company.
The affected bread has "Best By Date Codes" of Aug. 2 155 0227; Aug. 3 155 0237; Aug. 5 155 0257; Aug. 6 155 0267; and Aug. 8 155 0267 (raisin and banana bread only).
