True Seminole to Graduate From FSU

On the campus of Florida State University there are thousands of Seminoles. Yet in truth, there are only two true Seminoles that have graduated from the university. Saturday, Emily Osceola-Branch will make it three.

This graduating senior is truly counting down the days to graduation, but the 22-year-old has greater ties than most to Florida State University. Emily Osceola Branch is a member of the Seminole tribe. The social sciences major says her experience as a Seminole Indian and FSU Seminole was mostly positive.

Her family and friends are making their way into town. Actually about 50 people are expected to watch her turn her tassel. One of those proud family members is of course mom. And to make the day even more special, the mother and daughter have an important duty on graduation day.

Now, for the second time in FSU's history, members of the Seminole tribe will present the colors at the graduation ceremony. Commencement begins at 9 a.m. at the civic center.
