North Florida Community College is facing a financial crisis, and some folks won't be returning to their jobs next year.
This week, the board of trustees voted to cut 17 positions from teaching and administration, but the employees currently in those positions will not be laid off until the end of the semester.
The Madison County School Board is taking over the NFCC Adult Education program.
Employment assistance will be offered to all people losing their jobs.
“The faculty and staff changes are a horribly painful necessity due to our current budget situation. Everyone who works at NFCC is significant and those in positions not being renewed will be greatly missed. Despite the changes, NFCC will continue to function effectively. We are still determined to fulfill our mission, to serve our students, and to continue to provide high quality educational opportunities," said John Grosskopf, NFCC President.
