Would you believe there are more tanning salons in Tallahassee than McDonald's and Starbucks combined?
We counted 36 tanning salons, compared to 14 McDonald's and eight Starbucks.
Of the tanning salons, a few are included in apartment complexes that offer complimentary tanning.
Leon County Health officials say one of their biggest concerns is people who tan more than once in a 24 hour period by being members of more than one facility.
"I think that the one thing that people need to consider that with the accessibility of tanning beds available, they tend to tan maybe a little more often than they should." says Leon County Health Department Administrator, Homer Rice.
Currently tanning salons are under fire by many states, including Florida, looking to toughen up laws against them.
Florida is considering a law that would ban people under age 16 from using tanning salons.
