An FSU football player accused of rape will go to trial next week. By the Noles' season opener, Travis Johnson will either find himself facing the line of scrimmage or time in prison.

Travis Johnson was in court Thursday morning. He's accused of raping a 22-year-old woman at a fellow player's apartment back in April. Prosecutors did not offer Johnson a plea deal, so he will go to trial next week.

"When I spoke with Mr. Johnson and learned his side of the story, my hope was that charges would never have been filed. I think he's maintained his innocence throughout. His consistent story is this has been consensual sex between two adults. We had hoped charges would not have been filed. They were," says John Kenny, Johnson’s attorney.

Johnson is still on the FSU football roster and did participate in the first team practice Wednesday. Jury selection begins Friday. Johnson's trial is set for next Wednesday.
