One to head up the Eagle's softball team, and the other to take over a major academic department; mother Linda Benedict and daughter Patti Townsend haven't lived in the same state for seven years, but that all changed this summer.
Florida-based Patti applied for the TCC softball coach job and asked for her Michigan mom's advice.
With different last names, TCC officials say they were completely unaware of the mother daughter connection, but now joke it could make for a great working relationship.
The two call each other friends as well as family, and as the mother of the head softball coach, Linda can look forward to some perks, like good seats.
Dean Benedict's first day on the job was Monday. Coach Townsend started last month.
