Thomas County Superintendent Search

After eight years of service as superintendent, Dr. Larry Green has decided to retire June 2007. Green says the Board of Education plans to have a decision by December, giving his replacement time to transition into the position, which Green says is very important.

He said, "It was very important to me because my first year in as superintendent, after that transition, the budget was the major factor, and it always is. The superintendent that's coming on board needs to have input into that budget."

The Board of Education has 22 applications to go through in deciding who to appoint as the next superintendent, and that process begins Tuesday.
