A former day care worker twice convicted of child abuse is now free on bond pending another appeal.

Earlier this week, Valeka Bryant was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but Thursday the same judge allowed her to go free on $25,000 bond until her next appeal is either granted or denied.

It's a big blow for the victims' parents and the former owners of the day care center where she worked.

"Come Father's Day 2004, this will be five years we've been living this nightmare, and here she is, out free, walking the streets. I just can't believe it. She's been tried and convicted twice and you would think this is enough," says Robin.

Valeka Bryant's attorney, Richard Allen, had no comment on Bryant's release. He filed a notice of appeal Thursday, and also filed a motion to try to get her 10-year prison sentence reduced to five years. That's the length of her original sentence.
