Mayor John Marks is urging all Tallahasseeans to participate in the upcoming 2010 Census.

Marks signed a partnership agreement with the U.S. Census Bureau Thusrday.

He says federal funding for roads, schools, health care and more depends on the count, not to mention it helps determine representation in congress.

Some project Florida will pick up two more seats as a result of the 2010 census.

"We're a growing state. We may need more than 25 people in the House of Representatives. We may be entitled to more than 25, I should say. So, we need to have an accurate count to make sure that we have the political clout that we have in the state of Florida," Tallahassee Mayor John Marks said.

Based on the last census count approximately 150-thousand people live in Tallahassee,
239-thousand in Leon County and close to 16 million in Florida.

The census will take place in March of next year.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates for 2007 show Tallahassee has grown about 4%, Leon County has grown about 9% and Florida has grown about 14% since the last census.
