It has been an eventful year for the Rattlers as a new leader took over the reigns last summer. Monday, FAMU president Dr. Fred Gainous began his second year at the helm. Tuesday, we sat down with the top rattler to take a look back and a look forward.
From the get-go, Dr. Gainous was faced with challenges. First, filling several vice president vacancies on campus. From there Gainous' focus turned to FAMU High. An FCAT controversy and sex scandal grabbed the headlines, but it was the school's overall quality that led to the firing and hiring of principals.
Most recently, Gainous changed the game plan on the gridiron, making the move from division 2-A to 1-A. As for upcoming changes, the president says his three main focuses will be rebuilding on-campus dorms, renovating Bragg Stadium and working more closely with the Board of Trustees.
