Crime Stoppers: Armed Robbery at Applebee's

In this Crime Stoppers report we shine the spotlight on an armed robbery suspect accused of holding up the Applebee’s Restaurant on Capital Circle NW.

Around 1:30 a.m. on the morning of July 4, the manager of the store was leaving for the day. Suddenly he was approached by a black male in the parking lot who demanded the bank bag. A fight ensued and shots were fired.

“The manager tried to get the bank bag back but the suspect was able to wrestle it away and run down an alley. The manager gave chase but the robber fired shots and the chase ended and the gunman fled past the subway to the Harvey's area,” says Kathy McGhin, crime prevention officer.

Neither the manager nor the employee was hurt in the incident. Moments after the shooting however witnesses noticed a blue Ford Festiva speeding from the scene.
