According to The Associated Press, a witness described ''huge pieces of debris falling'' after the small plane crashed into a high-rise on New York City's Upper East Side.
The fire department says the aircraft hit the 20th floor of a building on East 72nd Street. There's no word yet on casualties.
The Federal Aviation Administration says it's too early to say what might have caused the crash.
Video from the scene showed some apartments fully engulfed in flames. Witnesses say the crash caused a gigantic fireball.
