National Hydrogen Research Facility a Possibility for FSU

Students of Florida State University could soon have a unique research opportunity.

Tallahassee city commissioners are currently in talks with officials from Biomass Gas and Electric company to place a Biomass plant near Tallahassee's Innovation Park.

As part of the deal, BG&E is making a commitment to provide funds for a national hydrogen research facility at FSU.

"I think that it would be great going into the next century. It would be wonderful for FSU to use this as a research development center. It would be wonderful," said Tallahassee resident Pete Adams.

The plant, which is expected to be operational by 2010, will convert wood waste into a gas that is similar to natural gas.
