Valentine's Say 2003 ended with heartbreak when Christopher Bishop got a call. The FAMU student and husband was told he'd be deployed.
Meanwhile, National Guard Cadet Wendy Delacruz also had to leave her studies at FAMU.
Delacruz was never deployed overseas, but was sent to the airport in Ft. Stewart several times with the possibility of deployment.
Tuesday, both college students are home, witnessing Veterans Day as a veteran.
Bishop, a machine gunner for the Marines, is proud of his service and now feels a kinship to the veterans of earlier generations.
