Saturday, the former priest who was accused of inflicting so much pain on scores of young boys was killed at a Massachusetts prison. A corrections department spokesperson says an inmate attacked Geoghan, he died a short time later at a local hospital.
Geoghan was at the center of the Boston Archdiocese sex abuse scandal. He was sent to prison in 2002 after being found guilty of molesting young boy.
A prison official says Geoghan was injured in a fight at the prison in Shirley, Massachusetts, and died a few hours later in a nearby hospital.
Geoghan received the maximum sentence of nine to 10 years in prison, but was only expected to serve six.
