Hearing on Sewage Overflow

Updated: Tue 10:06 AM, Aug 26, 2003

Some residents in Killearn are hoping a vote by county commissioners goes their way. These same residents say their homes are being destroyed by flooding and some say their septic tanks are over-flowing onto their property.

Tuesday evening, Leon County commissioners will vote whether to use $25 million from Blueprint 2000 money to help these Killearn Lakes residents.

The home owners would use the money to make repairs to their homes and property.

The $25 million was originally set aside for these problems in particular, but later redirected in a vote to cover water quality improvements only.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m., Tuesday night in the Leon County Courthouse in the commission chambers.
