Valdosta city and Lowndes County officials enter mediation next week.
Both sides hope they can straighten out who provides services in the areas of parks and recreation, water and sewer and road maintenance.
Taxpayers say they appreciate the optimism coming from both sides.
"I feel real good about it. They’re able to get together and work that out. I feel like it will be the betterment for the whole city and county, Lowndes County and Valdosta," said Valdosta resident Wesley Bee, Jr.
Community officials have set October 31 as the deadline to finalize any paperwork involving the bill.
