The Blair Stone Road extension has been in the works for decades.
The first segment of Blair Stone Road north is open for business.
Some long-awaited relief for Tallahassee drivers. It's been an idea since 1978, and construction on the road started in August of 2001.
Only one City Commissioner, Debbie Lightsey, has seen the whole project through.
The city got plenty of input from nearby residents who fought the road, with some improvements to sweeten the deal.
Two more segments of Blair Stone Road will open by December 2004, completing a $55 million total project.
The road was open for through traffic after the ceremony ended about 8 p.m. Tuesday.
It was ready for rush hour Wednesday morning.
