Sheriff's Office Holds Honors Ceremony

The Medal of Valor is given to those who not only promise to protect and serve, but go beyond the call of duty.

Thursday afternoon, a Leon County sheriff's deputy was given this honor. Deputy Brian Pearson was the one to catch the man accused of shooting and killing Tallahassee police officer Sergeant Dale Green.

Deputy Pearson was recognized for these heroic actions

Deputy Pearson was also up for the Florida Deputy Sheriff's of the Year Award, he came in second for that honor.

The deputy is a member of the K-9 unit.
