The seven guards seen on video tape beating Anderson at a Bay County Boot Camp have been named as defendants.
Anderson family attorney Benjamin Crump said the Bay County sheriff is disregarding any responsibility for the death of Anderson.
"The sheriff will escape completely and if the deputies are not involved in this suit individually and personally then there will be no justice for the family of Martin Lee Anderson."
Crump also said a separate malpractice suit will be filed against the nurse seen in the video.
